Special Events
The City of South Miami frequently host 11 events annually. A few examples of these events include Halloween Safe Streets, Dunkin' for Pumpkins, Santa's Parade of the Elves, Annual Easter Egg Hunt, 4th of July Celebration, Back-to-School Backpack Giveaway and more. 

Our staff works hard to provide multiple events through the Parks & Recreation Department as well as assists with events for many community organizations and local businesses.

Please contact the Special Events office via email or directly at (305) 668-3873 for information on how you can become a sponsor and/or volunteer for a specific event. 

Special Events Permit
Any event or activity that temporarily occurs upon public or private property that affects the ordinary use of any park, public street, right-of-ways or sidewalks is considered a Special Event in the City of South Miami. Furthermore, a Special Event may be required where specified uses or characteristics of use are of nature requiring mandatory technical determinations or reviews to established special conditions and safeguards. Special events may included, but are not limited to art festivals, fairs, farmers markets, celebrations, grand opening celebrations, certain outdoor business promotional events, races, parades and marches. Garage Sale Permits
A permit is required for garage sales in the City of South Miami. 

Items required for Approval
1. Completed Application
2. Two (2) Forms of Identification: Drivers License, Florida ID, Utility Bill and/or Car Registration
3. Notification of neighbors on both sides 
4. Payment: $20 - 2 day garage sale permit (Check or Money Order made payable to the City of South Miami
